A couple of weeks ago I reported:

This problem is now fixed by upgrading gcc from 2.95.3 to 3.3.2.

This problem was solved by setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to point to the new extensions library. It was (mistakenly) pointing to the old extensions library directory.
