Hello Timo,
We also have a requirement for VME64x transition board extender.
Particularly as we have a custom transition board as a Machine Protection
Module. ie the protection logic is on the transition board so is separate
from, and only monitored by the Hytec 8001.
Could you let techtalk and me know if you do or don't find one. If they're
not available I'm happy to initiate a development.
Best Regards.
Mark

Subject: Re: Choice of Power PC VME cards
Hi,
we at SLS are slowly moving to the MVME5100 series. We have already
bought some cards but have not yet put any into operation (we are
currently using mvme230x cards, which we do not intend to replace as
long as they work.)
An almost unrelated question: has anybody seen or heard of an extender
card for VME64x transition modules? We have extenders for the main cards
and were looking something similar to help in debugging transition
modules but have not found anything yet. Any hints would be appreciated.

Dear All,
The control system for the Diamond Light Source is to be based on
VME-based
IOCs running EPICS under VxWorks on PowerPC processors. Until now we
have
been using MVME2304 boards for prototyping and development, but now we
are
about to place an order for a large number of processor boards for the
full
system. We have received tenders offering the MVME5500 and MVME5100
series
boards; we would be pleased to know whether anyone else is currently
using,
or intending to use EPICS on these boards, and if so, what stage they
are at
and what their experiences with them so far have been.
I understand also that to use these boards we will need to change our
release of Tornado from 2.0.2, which we are currently using, to 2.2 or
2.2.1
and would be pleased to know other people's experiences with Epics on
Tornado 2.2 or 2.2.1.
Thanks
