Fellow EPICs
Users,
At the Australian
Synchrotron we are using Version 2.1.8 of the Channel Archiver on a machine with
heaps (1.1 TB) of disk space. The disk usage is currently at about
10% and rising after less than a year of operation. We have an idea
that we would like to back-up old data (maybe older than a year) to some form of
off-line storage (e.g. DVDs, Tape, Paper Tape) which provides an easily
accessible means of data retrieval (so it should contain the data along with all
the necessary indexes and so on.)
I am interested to know
if this sort of off-line storage is in use at other facilities and if so, what
storage medium is in use and what sort of preprocessing of the data is used
prior to writing to the storage medium.
Thanks in
advance.
