we have 2 MAXv cards currently running as steppers under VxWorks and haven't had problems yet. We use Epics 3.14.8.2 / motor-R5-9.

do you have a "MAXv Multi-Axis Motion Controller"* from Pro-Dex (OMS) in use? What is your experience?
I have seen the 2 entries from Ronald L. Sluiter and Jens Eden in the Tech-Talk archive.
