Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
A new third generation light source is being built at Brookhaven. The control group is starting to be formed this year. We have passed our Critical Design 1 milestone and are starting to do advanced R&D and prototyping. The commissioning is expected to start in October of 2011. We hope to make some significant contribuitions in the following areas:
Intelligent Device Control Hardware and Software
RDB use for modelling and acclerator configuration
Physics Applications based on XAL and MATLab
EPICS base and tool development
The control group is responsible for the more traditional scope - including low level device control, timing system, machine protection, subsystem control, as well as the RDB, high level application phsyics tools and fast feedback. The group size is expected to be on the order of 15 people.
If you have some interest or would like to hear more about the project please contact me. We currently have two positions open, but we expect to open more positions in the very near future.
Thanks,
Bob Dalesio
