Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
I've been working on a CA client library interface module for Perl 5,
since all of the existing ones I know of use EZCA (which I don't like).
A version of this code will probably be included in Base R3.14.10, but
I'm making it available now since it works fine with R3.14.9 and I would
like some outside testing first.
For test and example purposes I have reimplemented the cainfo, caget,
caput and camonitor programs from Base in Perl, although my versions are
not as comprehensive as Ralph's C originals. The code has been tested
on Solaris, Linux and Darwin/Mac OS X; I have no idea whether it will
build or run on Windows, but I'd be interested in feedback or patches if
someone manages to make it work there.
Requires: Perl 5.8.x, tested on 5.8.6 and 5.8.8.
The source code can be found in the EPICS Modules Download area at
http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/download/modules/cap5-0.1.tgz
Documentation (using Perl's POD format) is included in the package and
will be converted to HTML at build time, or it can be read online at
http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/modules/soft/cap5/
