The drvXy9660.c carrier driver that was added to drvIpac version 2.9 (which I believe can control the Acromag 9670 card) does set the CSR_ACE bit of the Control/Status register. My guess is that you were probably investigating Andy Foster's original carrier driver which I haven't looked at recently — can you confirm that?
