Subject: ioc reading data from files

Hi,
I'm pretty new at this.

Presently, I have epics on my laptop with files with raw test data. I have
learned to run the (ioc in one window) and then ask a ca client (in another
window) to read the data into the database. I also have an edm panel
displaying the data.

Ultimately, the data won't be read from flat files, so I want the ioc to open
and read the data files. My intent to accomplish this with a subroutine in
the ioc, and later to replace that subroutine with the appropriate routines
that call the correct drivers. This will allow me to incrementally develop
my code.

Until the hardware is all in place, I can use my simple setup to develop my
edm panels, etc. Does anyone have advice, or preferably working examples,
of code that reads files from into ioc and the ioc writes the data to the database?

Thanks,
Pierrick
