At NSLS II, we are integrating our power supplies through a synchronous device interface. This is a high speed synchronous bus that can update power supply setpoints at 10 KHz. It can also upload diagnostic data in the spare bandwidth. The power supply controller does not talk directly to EPICS - it communicates over this redundant synchronous link. We are going to do some network studies here to understand if each power supply should run IOC core. What does that do to the clients? The network? Bob
