I don't know if you inherit this - or if you put the device instance separate. Yeah, a highly placed source inside SNS, speaking on condition
of anonymity, had told us about that. Our "instance" is either "instance" or
"position along beamline in cm," depending on where in the system we
are. It's a little clunky, but I think it'll serve us well. In either case, it's separated by "_" from the device
