Is anyone running MEDM on a recent GNOME environment, Linux x64? (Better
yet, Ubuntu 10.04?)
I'm having an unusual issue. Both MEDM 3.1.4 and 3.1.5 compile and run,
and seems fine for most uses. I'm able to run sample interfaces, for
example scaler.adl runs perfectly.
The problem occurs when I right-click (button3-click) on an MEDM
surface.
In execute mode, this immediately locks up my X11 session and I can't
interact with anything from then on (all I can do is move the mouse
pointer around.)
In edit mode, it locks up interaction in the same way (without showing
the editing menu), but it also traps the mouse pointer inside the
particular window for the ADL I have open.
In both cases, the only way I can get out is to switch to a text virtual
console (ie Ctrl-Alt-F2) and kill the medm process from there.
Running medm under ltrace, I can see function calls for all UI events up
to the right-click, but nothing for the right-click itself. Which makes
me think this may be an interaction between GNOME (or some other piece
of software) and MEDM or Motif.
I'm running with Motif 2.2.3 (standard package.) Any/all help, or
suggestions of how to proceed with investigation, would be very much
appreciated. :)

Angus
