Very sorry to hear that. Steve's knowledge, experience, and friendly good
nature were always a guiding force in the EPICS community. I always enjoyed
discussing network protocols with him (I benefited more than him no-doubt)
at the various meetings over the years going all the way back to the 1989
Vancouver ICALEPCS where I first met him during a spirited discussion at my
poster session. Steve was an excellent speaker, and was even willing to be
pressed into giving another colleague's talk on the spot at CERN when they
were jet lagged. He will definitely be missed.
