The EPICS community has lost a great teacher and friend.
Steve Lewis passed away Thursday morning after a long battle with cancer.
He went peacefully while surrounded by his wife Suzie and children Aaron, Beth and Sam.
Steve had a great gift for explaining complex subjects. He taught my first EPICS class and kept it real with stories about past projects that had used the records we were learning about. He backed it all with a wealth of knowledge and was always great about answering questions and explaining the operation of motors, pumps, vacuums and all the controls needed for accelerators. His control screens were
an inspiration to all of us for their usability and esthetics.
Despite his health problems, Steve was always easy to work with and dedicated.
He loved his work and continued to contribute remotely as recently as last week.
He will be deeply missed.
