Hi Pierrick,

welcome to the project of CA Lab! You are right, it's necessary to have a LabVIEW installation. CA Lab is an additional interface for LabVIEW and not a stand alone program. To establish a Channel Access communication you need the CA Lab library for the computer with running LabVIEW VIs only. All other EPICS IOCs and clients don’t need it. Please visit our web site for more information. You find it here: http://www-csr.bessy.de/control/SoftDist/CA_Lab/

Yours sincerely

Carsten

Hi folks,
I'm attempting to build caLab and find the documentation lacking requisite information.
I'm working with a linux box with SLF 2.6.18-274.3.1.el5PAE.

The instructions are for ubuntu and there I need to download something from labview,
it appears to be related to cintools.  From where do I get this?

Once I have this and assuming that I can build my own libcalab.so, the instructions tell
me to start labVIEW.  I'm hoping that this doesn't mean that I need labVIEW running on
my machine; what I really want is to read/write to labVIEW variables on another machine
running labVIEW on the same LAN.  Can anyone verify this?
Thanks,
Pierrick
