Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System

Hi folks,
I'm attempting to build caLab and find the documentation lacking
requisite information.
I'm working with a linux box with SLF 2.6.18-274.3.1.el5PAE.
The instructions are for ubuntu and there I need to download
something from labview,
it appears to be related to cintools. From where do I get this?
Once I have this and assuming that I can build my own libcalab.so,
the instructions tell
me to start labVIEW. I'm hoping that this doesn't mean that I need
labVIEW running on
my machine; what I really want is to read/write to labVIEW variables
on another machine
running labVIEW on the same LAN. Can anyone verify this?
Thanks,
Pierrick
