Hi Ryan,
The 1.44 msi files have Microsoft Window Installer 4.5 as a prerequisite but it should be automatically downloaded and installed during the 1.44 installation if it is not found. The 1.44 msi files were created from a setup project using Visual Studio 2013 and It is possible that Microsoft .NET Framework is a prerequisite for all setup projects created with Visual Studio. Do you have a version of Microsoft .NET Framework installed?
Janet

Subject: Windows installer error - bcastEnvChange.exe
I'm trying to install EPICSWindowsTools1.44-x86 for the first time on a
WinXP system. The MSI install package failed near the end of the install
and uninstalled everything. Looking at the system event log, I see:
Product: EPICS Windows Tools -- Error 1721. There is a problem with this
Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to
complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package
vendor. Action: _C64BF50F_FECC_4987_9245_67049C9EB83D, location:
C:\Program Files\EPICS Windows Tools\SetupFiles\bcastEnvChange.exe,
command: /Install
I had previously installed VirtualLinacSetup (which is from 2004? Is
that the latest version?) which was successful, but starting it was
problematic without medm, leading me to realize that EPICSWindowsTools
was required. I uninstalled VirtualLinacSetup and rebooted. I still get
the same error.
I'm sure my account has administrator access. I'm trying to install
using the default parameters. I don't have Exceed installed. (I'm
guessing medm needs an X server, but I can install Xming later, yes?)
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Ryan
