Subject: Removing the motor record's RINP input link

Recent changes to the motor record will make the "RMP Input Link" (RINP) redundant and I am considering removing it.

The RINP field is only used by the motor record's "Soft Channel" device support to allow it to read "raw" integer values. All applications here at the APS that use Soft Channel device support use the alternative input link; "Readback Location Input Link" (RDBL).

With motor module R6-10, applications using RINP will have to switch to RDBL and set the "Readback Step Size" field (RRES) to an appropriate value. Anyone using the motor record's RINP field, please contact me so we can insure a smooth transition.

Ron
