Hey, I'm neither using MEDM nor Ubuntu, so I can only guess. From what I found using Google, it seems you need to link against libld which is not done by default. You could try to change the line "USR_LIBS_Linux = Xm Xt Xp Xmu X11 Xext" to "USR_LIBS_Linux = Xm Xt Xp Xmu X11 Xext ld" in medm/Makefile to include the library in the build process.
