What you are doing should work. Please do the following:
- On the server machine, start the IOC (server). At the IOC prompt type this command and send the output:
dbl
That will show you a list of the records in the IOC. Chose one of those records for testing. I am calling that myTestRecord in my following instructions.
- On the server machine in another terminal window type this command and send the output:
cainfo myTestRecord
- On the client machine type this command and send the output:
cainfo myTestRecord
The most common reason for this to fail is if you are running a firewall program on either machine. On Linux the common firewalls are iptables and firewalld. You either need to disable the firewall or add exceptions for ports 5064 and 5065 on both UDP and TCP.

Subject: CA SERVER setup and build
Hello I'm new to EPICS. I have success to build basic EPICS application and read pv value.
I'm using sentOs( Linux), and EPICS 3.16 on 2 machines. I'm trying to set one machine as server and one as client and read pv's values with no success. Both machines are connected to the
same network switch.
How I build ca server and make him readable on the network?
Thanks for your help
