Hi,
I know I am late to the party, but I still wanted to point you to a solution that might fit exactly what you originally asked for. The Execute device support (https://github.com/KIT-IBPT/epics-execute) does exactly that: It allows you to run a shell script (or any executable for that matter) and makes the exit code and output available in EPICS records. Whether this is the best solution for you, or the other solutions (socket server with StreamDevice, Python scripts with pyDevSup) are better for you of course depends on the details of your requirements. Cheers, Sebastian |
