Hi Zhan,

Thanks for the response. The behavior I expected was for the detector to go to a disarmed state after taking the total number of images expected (number of images * number of triggers). I just tested, and the Eiger doesn't respond to additional triggers until I click the 'Stop' button followed by the 'Start' button (i.e. rearm it). This makes sense to me, since I explicitly set the number of triggers. I just wasn't expecting to have to manually stop it after each exposure set, I expected that to happen automatically once it took all the expected images.

All the best.

Hi Jesse,

I don’t have an Eiger but for the Andor3 we use, that’s the same behavior I observe.  And that’s what I expected, too.  The ‘Acquiring’ is on means it is ‘armed’ and ready to response to any trigger.  All I need to do is send another set of triggers (or TTL’s in my case).  My detector is always in ‘Acquiring’ mode unless I need to change parameters.  I don’t have trouble to start another series of exposure—I don’t need to hit ‘Acquire’ button any more, just sending the trigger.  Was that what your Eiger failed?

Subject: Problem with AreaDetector and Eiger External Series?

Hi,

We have an Eiger X 500K. I'm using AreaDetector to control it, and encountering a strange issue with the External Series trigger mode. I set the trigger mode to external series, and 'Start' collection. If I then send an external trigger, the series collects as expected. I can watch NumImagesCounter_RBV increment, and it reports the right number of images collected. However, after all the images are collected, Acquire stays 'Collecting'. In order to take another series I have to first click the 'Stop' button. Additionally, the StatusMessage_RBV stays as 'Waiting for external trigger' until I click the 'Stop' button.

This is in contrast to the Internal Series behavior, where at the end of a series Acquire goes to 'Done' as I would expect.

I don't know if this is a bug, or expected behavior based on a setting I haven't found somewhere. Insight would be appreciated. I did look through the release notes for ADCore 3.5 and 3.6 and the Eiger driver 2-7 and didn't see anything that indicated this was fixed (if it is a bug).

ADCore version: 3.4.0

Driver version: 2-6 (though the GUI is reporting 2-5?)

Eiger firmware version: 1.6.6

SIMPLON API version: 1.6.0

GUI: MEDM

Series settings (for testing): Images: 10, Triggers: 1, Exp time: 2 s, Exp Period: 2.1 s

Thanks.

- Jesse
