Hi Jesse,
This is a known problem. I believe it is a bug in the Dectris server. However, we can probably work around the problem in the ADEiger driver. Can you create an issue for it on Github?

Hi,
We have an Eiger X 500K. I'm using AreaDetector to control it, and encountering a strange issue with the External Series trigger mode. I set the trigger mode to external series, and 'Start' collection. If I then send an external trigger, the series collects as expected. I can watch NumImagesCounter_RBV increment, and it reports the right number of images collected. However, after all the images are collected, Acquire stays 'Collecting'. In order to take another series I have to first click the 'Stop' button. Additionally, the StatusMessage_RBV stays as 'Waiting for external trigger' until I click the 'Stop' button.
This is in contrast to the Internal Series behavior, where at the end of a series Acquire goes to 'Done' as I would expect.
Yes, we see the same behavior for our Eiger 500K in either External Enable and External Series modes: we have to explicitly stop the detector. To be clear, if we set NumTriggers to 10 and send it 20 pulses, it will count up to 10 triggers. Any file writing or processing plugin will only get 10 frames. But the detector will still be in Acquiring Mode and (using ADCore 3.5.0) the StatusMesssage says
Waiting for external triggers (press Stop when done)
But like you see, we have to explicitly stop the detector to be able to then restart it.
