I recently converted a Diamond-style database (for the Symetrie hexapod) to load at runtime and ran into that 'substitute' issue. The solution is to use dbLoadTemplate
which supports substitutions.
The original version with the 'substitute' keyword is here:
The new version uses that file modified to remove the 'substitute'
plus this .substitutions file
