DMC01:A is the PV for the first motor record on the controller, so your command should move the motor. However, there are many reasons why it might not move:
What does the medm motorx_all.adl show for that motor? This is what I see for motor DMC01:A on my system. It moves fine.

We used only "galil_motors-v6-10up.substitutions" file and other substitution files were commented out.
Our motor controller: DMC-4080.
