Hi Nicholas, If the server in the US is really not blocked by a firewall then you should be able to do the following on your client machine in Germany: - Set the environment variable EPICS_CA_ADDR_LIST to include the IP address of the server in the US - You may also need to change some timing parameters. Read the section called Configuration in this document: http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/base/R3-14/8-docs/CAref.html - Run the basic EPICS utilities from EPICS base: cainfo ‘pvname’ getget ‘pvname’ - Launch your MCA client As Lewis said this would be a dangerous configuration to have the server not behind a firewall, since anyone could access it. For this I'm trying CH1=mcaopen('pvname') but without success. The question for me is, if the reason for this is the firewall of the server (but should be cutoff) or if I have to add the specific IP of the server to any file? (library) Probably problems in the different subnets? What/where is the parameter which has to be changed? Thank you for responding my question! Nicolas |
