Ryan Pierce's Updates
Here are some of Ryan's recent tweets about brewing Beer with EPICS. Unfortunately we aren't going to be able to provide tastings of his results at the conference, for legal reasons.
Major progress with my EPICS based computer controlled beer brewing system! We added cam lock fittings and circulated water through the pump and heat exchanger. And after observing the heat transfer, I think I have a good control algorithm. Should be ready to brew real beer soon! pic.twitter.com/qbnpdAfYsH

Finally, I've graduated from putting water through my computer controlled beer brewing system and am now using real grain to make real beer. The inaugural batch is an IPA. I'm putting the India back in IPA by adding cardamom. pic.twitter.com/D3ytaZqjZo

I love digital fabrication! I designed an impeller to recirculate water through the heat exchanger using @adskFusion360 CAD and then had it cut on a waterjet out of stainless steel. I threaded a stainless rod and my friend fabricated a mount for a drill to spin it. pic.twitter.com/4vDYH7YrOX

Computer controlled beer brewing with EPICS is possible! My control algorithm was able to keep the mash close to 0.5 degree F. pic.twitter.com/ZiCA0ikezc
