Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
Aloha,
At the upcoming collaboration I will be presenting a survey of automation
techniques under EPICS. To that end I am soliciting examples that are under
present (or planned) use within the community.
The sorts of things I'm looking for are those which extend EPICS to allow
support for concepts like command or action completion and subsystem
synchronization.
We all know that EPICS is very good at presenting the low-level hardware
I/O across the network to the operator, but what about the presentation of
more sophisticated models?
Examples include:
o scan/wait records
o specialized records that model simple devices (motor,...)
o specialized records that support general devices and their commands
(Gemini CAD/CAR,...)
o other approaches that seek to give EPICS applications a device/command
interface rather than one of basic I/O (CDEV?, CORBA?,....).
Thanks,
Peregrine
