In my experience with serving enums from a portable channel access server 
application here at SDSS I found a limitation due to the channel access 
client API. While my client, in this case DM, allocated space on the widget 
for the actual number of enum strings (~25), only the first 16 were brought 
over from channel access. The remaining labels on DM were filled with 
garbage characters.
