Subject: mbbiDirect/mbboDirect - why only 16 bits ?

Why do the mbbiDirect and mbboDirect records only support 16 bits ?

Why is RVAL defined as SPC_NOMOD in mbboDirectRecord.dbd (making it
impossible to work around that limitation) while the Record Ref Manual
states that RVAL is Access=YES, Modify=YES ?
