That's what I do in my driver for the digital power supplies, too.
But be aware that you'll not have a DOL link for the waveform record:
as soon as you want to generate your waveform or copy it from some
other record you are back to the gensub record.
It shouldn't be too difficult to duplicate the "waveform" record to a
"waveout"
and adding the necessary functionality for output records.
Maybe someone already looked into it?
