Not really.

The Makefile is trying to build a standalone EPICS package.  Since  
Motif is not part of the standard OS X distribution the vlinac build  
procedure copies the Motif library into the vlinac tree.  It appears  
that a more recent version of Motif has been released since the vlinac  
package was last updated.   If you're not planning on creating a  
vlinac distribution there's no need to make the copy.
