I recently updated JLab operations from EDM 1-11-0zi to 1-11-1v and we
have a quirky new problem (more on the status of our old problems later).
You can give a related display the "On Focus" property which causes the
display in question to pop up without window manager decoration when
you mouse over the RD widget. So far, so good. We use them quite a bit
for small help screens and such.
In the newer version they pop up much faster than in the old one, which
is nice, but then if you move the mouse back out too quickly (and/or
move over another one) the pop-up doesn't close and you get a
"Close/Deactivate command ignored - window is not ready" message in the
msgbox window. If your mousing is more sedate, you don't get the
problem. Once the pop-ups get into this state they can't be closed until
you force them to die from the window manager or kill EDM.
We run both versions on RedHat Enterprise Linux 4, which uses Xorg
6.8.2. Both built against EPICS R3.14.8.2.
I noticed a recent entry on John's site that sounds like it might
possibly be related:
*Nov 6, 2008*
Version 1-11-1t
pip.cc: fixed bug that would cause embedded windows not to close under
certain
conditions
*Problem still exists...*
shell_cmd.cc, shell_cmd.h, shell_cmd.str, cursor.cc, cursor.h: changed
cursor behavior
I haven't ferreted out the root cause yet, but I wondered if anybody
else is seeing this.
Thanks,
