The "multiple servers" response also happens when using VirtualBox to run virtual guest operating systems (such as Linux within a WindowsXP host like my laptop). The guest host is on the 10.0.x.x subnet. VirtualBox sets up a "VirtualBox Host-Only Network" network connection. Disable that connection and close VirtualBox to remove that problem, if it presents itself.

I've seen cases on laptops, trying to access a soft IOC on the same laptop, where I got multiple responses for the "real" IP as well as 127.0.0.1.
