Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
Hi,
I need a check from the experts my understanding of channel access is
correct.
http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/base/R3-14/10-docs/CAref.html#Configurin1
We have a couple of systems in development for which I'd like to use the
EPICS_CA_MAX_ARRAY_BYTES feature, quite extensively at up to 4.2MB.
Nothing from the legacy infrastructure (either clients or servers) will
need access the new big arrays, but there will be interchanges for
'regular' (<4k) records between the new servers and its legacy surroundings.
Only dedicated clients will be accessing the big arrays, they'll also
access regular records, both from the legacy and new systems.
As I read it, anything 'regular' goes on the 4k freelist, compatible for
all the systems. Anything else has a dedicated EPICS_CA_MAX_ARRAY_BYTES
freelist. So there's no cross talk and it all plays nicely.
check?
Thanks,
Matthieu
