What hardware and OS is your IOC running on? Were there any warning or error
messages displayed when you built the IOC binary? A seg-fault that early
would probably have resulted in one or more warnings, and if so you should
concentrate on resolving them properly (if you need help with that, post the
output from the make process that shows those messages).
