Hi EPICS community,

      I’m running EPICS 3.14.11 on Windows XP and using windows extensions 32 MEDM as the GUI. I’m trying to run bash scripts from MEDM. I’m able to launch a xterm from a button created using MEDM’s shell command palette. The xterm window runs cygwin and I’m trying to use an argument to xterm to run the bash script. My problem is that the command line arguments are not parsed correctly when I specify two command-line arguments for xterm. I can run the following from a windows DOS window: xterm –e “dxpflyscan.sh /cygdrive/c/epics/bash/mca1.txt”. This works to create the cygwin xterm window and launches the dxpflyscan.sh script with /cygdrive/c/epics/bash/mca1.txt as an argument. However, the following does not work with MEDM. I just get a flash of a DOS window.

“shell command” {

                object {

                                x=70

                                y=167

                                width=127

                                height=42

                }

                command[0]{

                                label=”dxp-flyscan”

                                name=”xterm”

                                args=”-e “dxpflyscan.sh /cygdrive/c/epics/bash/mca1.txt””

}

    Has anybody had better success at getting bash scripts to work with MEDM on windows/cygwin? MEDM does work when I only specify the shell script name as an argument to xterm.

Cheers,

Jay Steele
