Subject: | question regarding VxStats-1-7-2h (doesn't seem to measure CPU load properly) |

Hi EPICS folks, I tried using VxStats-1-7-2h to diagnose a VxWorks problem that it turned out was caused by a State Notation Language (SNL) transition that returned back to the same state without any delays continuously. This seemed to take so much
CPU time that the VxWorks Channel Access Server just froze up. When I checked the VxStats $(P)Load PV when (1) the Channel Access Server was working just fine and when (2) it was frozen, the value was 11.8 both times. Am I correct in assuming that the $(P)Load PV should have caught this problem
and showed something like 100 when the VxWorks Channel Access Server was frozen?
Here’s the $(P)Load PV when everything is working. dbpr "21:D3:Load",10 ACKS: NO_ALARM ACKT: YES ADEL: 0 ALST: 11.4260407440213 AOFF: 0 ASG: ASLO: 1 ASP: 0x0 BKPT: 00 DESC: CPU Load DISA: 0 DISP: 0 DISS: NO_ALARM DISV: 1 DPVT: 0x1dff0ff0 DSET: 0x1ec4ce48 DTYP: VX stats EGU: % EGUF: 0 EGUL: 0 EOFF: 0 ESLO: 1 EVNT: 0 FLNK:CONSTANT 0 HHSV: MAJOR HIGH: 50 HIHI: 80 HOPR: 100 HSV: MINOR HYST: 0 INIT: 0 INP:INST_IO @cpu LALM: 11.4260407440213 LBRK: 0 LCNT: 0 LINR: NO CONVERSION LLSV: NO_ALARM LOLO: 0 LOPR: 0 LOW: 0 LSET: 0x1df4b6a0 LSV: NO_ALARM MDEL: 0 MLIS: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 MLOK: 1e 1f a7 a0 MLST: 11.4260407440213 NAME: 21:D3:Load NSEV: NO_ALARM NSTA: NO_ALARM ORAW: 0 PACT: 0 PBRK: 0x0 PHAS: 0 PINI: NO PPN: 0x0 PPNR: 0x0 PREC: 0 PRIO: LOW PROC: 0 PUTF: 0 RDES: 0x1ed80310 ROFF: 0 RPRO: 0 RSET: 0x1ec52624 RVAL: 0 SCAN: I/O Intr SDIS:CONSTANT SEVR: NO_ALARM SIML:CONSTANT SIMM: NO SIMS: NO_ALARM SIOL:CONSTANT SMOO: 0 SPVT: 0x1defdc00 STAT: NO_ALARM SVAL: 0 TIME: 1990-01-01 18:34:43.880000000 TPRO: 0 TSE: 0 TSEL:CONSTANT UDF: 0 VAL: 11.4260407440213 Thanks, Jay Steele Xradia Corporation The information in this email, including any attachments, is confidential and intended only for the recipient(s) listed.
