Thanks for the suggestion, I will have a look at PCASpy.

I was hoping that for such a trivial task I could directly inject PV values into CSS. I’m afraid that introducing EPICS in between may harm performance, or not? Potentially I can be monitoring hundreds of PVs.

Sorry, if I’m talking nonsense, I’m a complete newbie in this domain. Are there any good reference manuals on CSS (for developers) besides the CSS book, built-in help and GitHub Wiki?

Why you don't use python and PCASpy (https://pcaspy.readthedocs.org/en/latest/) ?
This way you can create a python code that runs and populate an EPICS PV.
