Fermilab is beginning construction of a new 800 MeV superconducting linac, known as PIP-II, to replace the current 50 year old linac injector to the accelerator complex. The control system for PIP-II will be based on EPICS. Furthermore a major parallel modernization project is underway to replace the existing custom control system for the accelerator complex to a system based on EPICS, which will encompass the PIP-II control system. Both projects are currently in the early planning stages. The modernization project, known as ACORN, recently received CD-0 approval from the DOE with substantial tentative funding.
