Hey Ralph, Thank you for the insight, I assume then the Preferences would refer to this archappl.conf file where I am setting some of those env variables. It seems CS-Studio works fine when the preferences are set (matching the env variables in .profile)
but then maybe the archiver is not liking something being set in archappl.conf. Is there any best way to handle this? Not including them in the archiver preferences? I would think there is not an easy way to get around any conflict between the env variables
and the java preferences if I plan to run the archiver with any IOCs (which need the env variables) on the same host. Thanks, Adam From: Tech-talk <tech-talk-bounces at aps.anl.gov> On Behalf Of
Ralph Lange via Tech-talk Reminder... The Channel Access command line tools are binary executables built from C sources. CS-Studio and the Archive Appliance are Java applications. As such, they are using different Channel Access libraries. While C/C++ binaries are often configured through environment variables, Java applications are often configured through their Preferences settings. The Java Channel Access libraries have been trying to also take environment variable settings into account. That still produces surprising results in some cases, especially when both environment variables and Preferences are being set. For the environment variables, it is correct that AUTO_ADDR_LIST=YES means: automatically prefill the address list with the broadcast addresses of all network interfaces found. ADDR_LIST specifies addresses that are added to the address list (that can be broadcast addresses). Cheers, |
