Reminder...

The Channel Access command line tools are binary executables built from C sources.

CS-Studio and the Archive Appliance are Java applications.

As such, they are using different Channel Access libraries.

While C/C++ binaries are often configured through environment variables, Java applications are often configured through their Preferences settings.

The Java Channel Access libraries have been trying to also take environment variable settings into account. That still produces surprising results in some cases, especially when both environment variables and Preferences are being set.

For the environment variables, it is correct that

AUTO_ADDR_LIST=YES means: automatically prefill the address list with the broadcast addresses of all network interfaces found.

ADDR_LIST specifies addresses that are added to the address list (that can be broadcast addresses).
