Hi All,
Thx for your collaboration. Our investigations on our issues of CAS misaligned protocol are progressing. We think one of our java service is adressing the CA with a bad request. So to be continued.
About the upgrade of our EPICS version, I think we could upgrade first our linux IOCs without changing for the new pvAcess protocol (remaining on Channel Acess protocol). In a first step, we can live with 2 different versions of EPICS. (3.14 for our IOCs running on VxWorks) and 7.0 for our linux IOCs. In a second step : switch to pvAcess protocol. By the way, even if Channel acess is still there, is it still maintained in the same manner than pvAcess protocol ? In a last step and because it's risky, we have to study the impact on our oldest VxWorks IOCs. We have quite a lot of
drivers running on it (epecially for RF part) ant it might not be so easy to switch on 7.0 version.
My wish will be to use only linux IOCs but it's another story (need to check if all equipments are ready for that, it might request huge investments).
Best Regards, Olivier

There was a strong correlation between the error messages and shutdown days, which is the only time IT scans the beamlines. cf. another recent example https://epics.anl.gov/tech-talk/2021/msg00072.php The exact wording the the warning depends on the Base version(s) involved. Seeing messages like this occasionally is almost certainly a non-CA client attempting to connect to a CA server. Actual CA clients retry continually, so any real problem would be much more verbose. > IOCs usually didn't need to be restarted after the errors occurred. I believe Windows IOCs were the exception. I vaguely recall the scans crashing Windows IOCs. Any misbehavior associated with malformed message warnings should be reported as a bug. > Kevin > > > On 2/16/21 5:15 AM, Delahaye Olivier via Tech-talk wrote: >> Hi, >> >> >> I'm working at GANIL in Caen, France. >> >> We are currently using EPICS 3.14.12.4.
