Replying to copy tech-talk ...
Hi Adam,
Yes, that's right - the archiving parameters are in the database and all the data is in the protobuf files in the stores.
I wouldn't normally be expecting to delete files from the STS or MTS after having backed them up, or to remove the directories themselves. The data is written to the STS, and then the ETL app takes care of moving the data to the MTS and then to the LTS, at
the times which you have configured. This means that, once the AA has been running in a steady state for some time, the sizes of the STS and MTS should be more or less constant. The size of the LTS will grow over time, and this is the one that you may need
to manage. Note that you can only retrieve data through the AA which is in the data stores. You can remove individual files without affecting retrieval for the other files.
Cheers,
Andy

I couldn’t find a clear explanation on backing up the STS MTS LTS from the archiver appliance and also clearing out the archiverstores after saving them off. Can I just copy these folders with the protobuf files in it and save them off, if needed I would drop them back into their respective directories if I wanted to use them again? Am I able to just delete the ArchiverStores after STS MTS LTS have been saved off and they will get remade or would I need to go about this differently? I tried to look through some of the scripting in the bpl documentation but couldn’t find what I was looking for. I did find some documentation on saving off configuration of the mysql database, are the config parameters mostly just the PV names and settings for each of the PVs while the data is stored in the protobuff files?
Thanks, Adam
