Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
Hello,I have created a testing environment for our new project. As we asumme, there will be over 200,000 PVs in the furture. So I create an IOC program to simulate the PVs to test the network load.
When I tried to generate all 200,000 PVs in one IOC program, this segementation fault (core dumped) error came out. Actually, when this number was more than 5448(EPICS 7.0.6, Debian 11, 8 cpu cores, 8g memory) or 5943 (EPICS 7.0.6, Centos 7 , 8 cpu cores, 8g memory), this error would come out. Changing the computer resources had no influence to these two numbers. But if I split the PVs into 40 IOC programs, 5000 PVs each, this error would not come out.
I assume this is some sort of protection mechanism for IOC programs to prevent infinite loops. I wonder if there is a parameter to change the uper limit for a single IOC program, just for academic disscussion.
Thanks
Leon
