Subject: | EPICS Event Scan Field causes EDM PV readback to not update in Text Entry widget |

Hi Tech Talkers,
I have a Menu button widget linked to an MBBO record, that in turn triggers Event records corresponding to whichever option is selected and the APPLYed.
These options are specific motor position configurations for different experiments.
![]() I have a series of AO records that take these position values for various motor positions,
each with the SCAN fields set to EVENT.
When their corresponding EVENT is triggered, these AO records are processed, writing
their VAL field to the motor demand position.
However, until the APPLY button is pressed, causing the EVENT to trigger, all the records are shown as INVALID.
The records stay INVALID even if the user attempts to change the values in the input fields.
The values do change in record VAL fields, just not on the screen.
Once the APPLY button is pressed, the records no longer show as INVALID, and show the new values.
However, the values still do not update when a new one is entered until APPLY is pressed.
![]()
Is there a way of making it so the records can be processed, showing the new VALs, without triggering the Events and writing to the motors?
I know I could just separate out the writing to motors to separate records, but then I would be doubling the number of records which isn't ideal.
This is using EPICS R3.14.12.7.
Some examples of the records associated with this:
<records.ao DOL="<PV>:CONFIG" DTYP="Soft Channel" FLNK="<PV>:CONFIG:APPLY:30UM:CALC"
OMSL="closed_loop" SCAN="Passive" record="<PV>:CONFIG:APPLY"/>
<records.event EVNT="1" record="<PV>:CONFIG:30UM:APPLY"/>
<records.ao EVNT="1" OUT="<MOTOR_PV>:Y PP" SCAN="Event" VAL="38.6839" record="<PV>:CONFIG:30UM:MAPTY"/>
<records.calcout CALC="A = 0 ? 1 : 0" INPA="<PV>:CONFIG:APPLY" OEVT="1" OOPT="When Non-zero"
record="<PV>:CONFIG:APPLY:30UM:CALC"/>
Thanks,
