I completely agree with a high level approach.
I'm spending many evenings and weekends in the control room
these days and my most important tool is Matlab w/ channel access.
In there, it helps to have an API ala
cavity_amp = caget('DTL_LLRF03:cav_amp')
and then cavity_amp is a double[1024] or int[16k],
far removed from the low-level API of assembling
a property catalog, connecting, ...
Will Kay and Doug coordinate this issue? Otherwise I'll be glad to
help.
I did some LDAP-based tests for a directory server which is on the wiki,
I'm also checking ZeroC Ice as suggested by Andy Foster for performance
and ideas as a possible communication mechanism.
Overall, however, I clearly don't have the time that I'd like to have
for V4 work,
so I'd not only be a bad coordinator but actually wonder if
I should quit before the rest of the group counts on my work
and then we all fail because I can't deliver.
Thanks,
-Kay
