Ralph pointed out to me that my difficulties with understanding
data access are statistically insignificant.
I agree.
I also agree with Marty on easy conversion to Java.
Ideally, the data interface classes are simple enough that
a tool like swig can read the V4 "epics_data.h" header
and create bindings for tcl, python, perl, ...
