I have tried two fixes for mantis 217. The first try worked on vxWorks and
windows, but not on Linux and Solaris. The 2nd try looked to be a perfect
solution, worked on windows/linux/solaris, but yesterday I learned that
vxWorks behaves differently (big surprise there) and is complaining.
I am unable to work on R3.14 until late this afternoon.
