I have/use a branch which doesn't seem to have been merged (yet)
which ads the following features:

- PCI config space access
- under linux: map sysfs 'resource' files if present which obsoletes the 
need
  for a uio kernel module if you don't use interrupts and otherwise 
makes it
  smaller.
