We cannot help with MODBUS but maybe it is useful for anyone that we run
serial communications over the greespring serial-IP board.
The serial communication runs a protocol with a local controller.
The advantage to use the serial-IP (not TCP/IP) is that you have a
dedicated VME subsystem (162) to do this job.
